Hi there

Got a question here:
What I wish to do is to have a some icons, that will change from one color to another when clicked. - simple yea.,..
hard bit:
I also want to enter some data into a mysql database when each one is clicked (or unclicked).
Is this possible at all?

you can use the onclick() event to fire off a change of button image, but that sort of question is really best suited to a javascript forum dont you think?

as for entering data when a button is clicked. you'll need to submit the form the button resides in. this form is a submitted to a php script which then processes and inserts the data into a database.

its just an image change from one to another when clicked.
cant find any decent code for it.

wouldnt matter...with that code, all you are doing is altering the appearance of the page on the client side. Because there is no communication with the server, even if you added a timestamp to the link somewhere, it wouldnt matter, since that could only be a client side change.

Although AJAX may allow you get around that.

Look at my thread IE Problem, it was posted yesterday. It has code that does what you are talking about. The code works perfectly on Firefox but has some issue with passing the variable in IE. My code may point you in the direction you need, and maybe in the process you will come up with the answer to my problem.

The code uses very little java, it is mostly php.

as soon as the image is click it puts a 'timestamp' in the database, thus not allowing it to be selected again for a certain period of time

I think you could do that using the code I suggested.

The user clicks the button
The page is submitted and checks to see if the button was clicked
Once it determines the button was clicked it also checks to see if the code is allowed to be executed
If the timestamp does not exist or is old enough it executes the code to put in the timestamp.

This should be accomplished with the right code being inserted where the

if(  isset($Complete) ) { Enter your code}

I hope this helps. I will try to post an example when I have a few minutes.

i think i may have found an easier way.

the onclick function that changes the seat image, will then open a new window which will contain all the seat data, parsed by variables and update/set sessions as neccessary
