[RESOLVED] PHP5 ISAPI + Windows 2003 Web Ed. + mssql

I've been banging my head against the wall and searching the internet for days about this problem with no luck, but I'm not giving up cause some people claim this works with PHP v.4. For example: http://phpbuilder.com/board/showpost.php?p=10443368&postcount=3

Here the situation: I'm using PHP v.5 on a Window 2003 Server Web Edition and it runs great, however I cannot connect to my MSSQL 2000 Server using the php_mssql.dll extension. When enabled, my server just hangs (loads and loads) and I have to restart IIS.

I've followed the installation directions exactly and have tried dozens of different variations and combination of settings/installation scenarios but to no avail. I even copied the latest ntwdblib.dll from the MSSQL Server to the PHP and WINDOWS/SYSTEM32 directories with no luck (as this has been a primary reason for the problem in the past with php4).

I am asking for help from anyone who's gotten the mssql extension to work using PHP 5 ISAPI on Windows 2003 Server Web Edition. What did you do and how is your server set up (i.e., what files are where, what versions are the files, what settings did you set, etc.)?

If you can help me solve this you would have my up most gratitude and sincerest appreciation.

And if anyone knows for certain that it can't be done, please tell me so I can stop wasting my time on this.

After playing around with some other connection methods, I've found using the ODBC Function a viable and convenient alternative (http://us2.php.net/manual/en/ref.uodbc.php)

No, on Windows, the ODBC function is natively supported.
