Scheduled Tasks

Hi all,

I want to get scheduled tasks on Windows to run a php script.

However, it won't run any php script but will run html files.

Why is this??

have you got the command line interface installed for php? what happens when you type...

php -v

at the command line?

PHP 4.4.0...
Built...
Copyright...

PHP is installed and working properly. Only problem is that doesn't run in Scheduled Tasks.

yeah...well really, i dont have a clue about windows. but how are you trying to run the script? through a browser or directly through the php cli?

Hi Kev,

It might be your settings aren't quite correct

Suppose your php is located ...

C:\PHP\cli\php.exe

... and your PHP file is ...

C:\test.php

... then the Run command should be ...

C:\PHP\cli\php.exe C:\test.php

... and you should Start in ...

C:\

PS. I had a few problems with the owner/password malarkey but you can check to see if that's your problem by opening the 'Scheduled Tasks' folder and displaying the details.

The windows task scheduler often runs scripts with the current working directory of wherever it feels like it.

Make a batch file (windows NT cmd file) which does a cdd to the right working directory, sets the path appropriately, then runs your PHP script (ideally putting the stdout / stderr into a log file with date/time)

OK this makes no sense to me. Could you explain in simpler terms please Mark?

Anyway in Scheduled Tasks I tried setting Run:

C:\PHP\php.exe C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\test\update_test.php

and Start In:

C:\

But didn't do anything. Any ideas please.

Could someone explain clearly what I need to do?
