[RESOLVED] Can one recognize color in an existing image?

If you have an existing jpeg/png picture file with an English sentence on it, can one determine the color of the words/font used (perhaps using GD with PHP)?

I'm NOT talking about creating a new image with GD, and I don't want to translate the sentence in plain text (OCR). I just want to know how to automate recognizing a color in a certain position within a picture file.
