Anyone tried easygen?

http://www.easygen.com/

does it do all it says it can do?
I personally like to get into the code but I'd quite welcome something that can churn out a shopping cart quickly.

I think everybody would welcome something that handles the humdrum, however this isn't it. The product is about as unintuitive as it gets. There is no support as such, if you have a query it costs £9 a throw to get an answer and the online tutorials might as well be written in chinese. I bought it and discarded it after a couple of days as I found that producing even the simplest of things was so long winded. Far from saving me time it was actually costing me money to use. It's totally lightweight and a waste of money IMHO, spend your eighty quid on loose women, beer or put it on a nag, at least that way you will enjoy being turned over

rikmoncur, I don't normally participate in these forums, just read them. But the answer you got from mobyme made me want to add a more honest response and less bitter and twisted.

Firstly you do get full online support with easygen and for £9 you get 3 support incidents. And each one is kept open until your issue is resolved. Unlike premium rate lines that can end up costing hundreds before you get an answer. So £3 for full dialog with a programmer that can go on for days if needs be, is very cheap.

Anyway, I've been using easygen for 6 months now. I'm not a programmer but would love to be one. easygen really did open up the world of databased web sites. It's actually very easy to use and very powerful, i've built some incredible applications for my course work. My teacher was so impressed with how easygen helped me he had it installed on the schools PCs.

However, if your really lazy or stupid you may have problems, you still need to use your brain a bit, as it won't dream up your creation for you. You have to tell it to do what you want.

But try it for yourself, I think the download is free and you can try it for 30 days I think.

      Hope that helps 😃

I use easygen and agree with AlexMantle that it is a powerful tool.

There is also a helpful forum created by eaygen enthusiasts which is based at

        http://www.easygen.org

I have studied lots of PHP RAD tools and I'm still using easygen because it is so flexible.

My advice is to watch the video tutorials to see if it's what you want.

        Regards Tony

(couple of years since my last post but I thought I had better reply in case somebody was searching for advice regarding EasyGen through one of the search engines and this thread was to come up)

What was bitter and twisted about my response? The OP asked if anybody had tried it, I said I had and that in my opinion it was garbage. The code it writes is dire and it will actually take you longer to make simple applications using this program than using php or asp. There is no mention of any costs involved for support until after you have purchased it or the fact that if you were to suffer a hardware crash you have to pay the company to relicense the product. I am a competent programmer and was looking for something to handle tedious humdrum stuff when I purchased the program. (I never needed support) and this product simply doesn't do what it claims to do, hence my response. All this time later I would still advise any would be purchaser to steer well and truly clear of this product.
