View Excel File

All,
I have an excel spreadsheet that I would like to upload to my webspace. Is there anyway that php can take the file that was uploaded and then have it viewed on site? Would the only possibly way be to upload the file into the db and then have it return all the results? Would there be anyway to open the file to display it's contents as well? Just a couple options I thought of and I'm not sure if any of them would work.

I've decided to have a user save the the excel file as a web page. After that I have a form that the user can upload the file. Now I have a problem. What I do is insert the filename into the database along with their userid. I also upload the html file to the web space. For security reasons I need only people that are logged into to be able to view these files and since they are html files in an directory that is viewable by everyone I'm not sure how to limit access. The other problem is that if a user is logged in they can only view the html file that is associated with their userid in the db. I can retrieve the file and this works good but someone could easily just change the URL string in the browser to a different html file and it would work? Does anyone know how to limit access to this directory until someone is logged in and then once they are logged in limit access only to the file associated with their userid in the db?

I would really appreciate any thoughts or suggestions.

Hi,
Php has one powerful tool named as com object., which is used to open other application using php code. u can try that object . but it should be installed in your remote server.

See I don't want to open up excel. I just want to display the page as a website which can be done. I was curious if there was anyway to protect this?

When I upload the file is there anyway to upload the file contents directly into the database so that way I wouldn't need to upload the filename and then upload the actual file to the web directory. If I could display the page by pulling it from the database this would be ideal so I can pull the specific page that I wanted. I have never seen an upload script that would upload the file contents to a database instead of just uploading the file to the web and then inserting the filename into the db. Anyone have any ideas how to do this and then display the file contents from the database?
