Im having a bit trouble figurering out the logic of a simple menu...
Im having three kind of menues, public - private - admin, and no problem getting those together. The real problem is to indicate the current active menu together with the template system.
Im using Smarty, and I know how to do plugins/modifiers/etc, but this just seems like a dark area.
My own suggestion: Do the menu as a 2 dimension array and do the menu with id's passed along the templates like this demo:
