Heya,
I just wanted to give a sincere thank you to all those who take the time to assist us noobs on this board.
When I first came here, I knew nothing about PHP except that it is the answer to many of the things I need to do at work. I couldn't even even get the "Hello World!" php script right without copy 'n pasting it into my editor. I ruined a PHP book when it de-bound as it hit the wall in frustration. How things have changed.
With your help and guidance, in a relatively short time I have grasped and embraced PHP. I can now compile PHP 5 to work on Win 2K3 Server with IIS, code pages which enable me to click a button to email clients using a template, code pages which send dozens of variables to many tables, normalize my database, and plenty more.
From day 1 I knew I would use PHP to complete a massive project at work to modernize the entire work process, so I made little projects first to understand the concepts necessary for the overall project. I piece together the little projects to encompass the main project, which is nearly complete and over 40,000 lines of code. And as I learn more, I see how to improve my projects.
I'm far from being an expert, but I don't quite feel like a noob anymore. I've even ventured at helping others (and pardon me if I give ideas which aren't correct or efficient!) And I accredit it to the help I am given by those who contribute here.
Thank you kindly 🙂
