[RESOLVED] query madness

guys ... this is driving me MENTAL ...

I have a date field in a table in my Db and I'm trying to get a list of each month/year that has an entry in the table e.g.

October 2005
July 2004
June 2004 etc.

It's driving me mad cos I can't get it right ....

anyone help???

SELECT YEAR(date) AS year, MONTH(date) AS month, COUNT(*) FROM table GROUP BY year, month

this will list each year/month with the number of records for each month.
