I have used Linux enough to know
that most any Linux can install either Gnome or KDE

I only want to have some Linux distro that comes with KDE as default
and which is configured like this from the start.
Because I am used to KDE, I know howto use it and I like it.

KUbuntu seems like an interesting alternative mentioned here.
I might try to download it.

www.DistroWatch.com is a good source of info.
I should have done some looking there myself,
guess I am too lazy and ask here instead
😃

I now as a temporary solution runs Linux from my CD.
It is an interesting Boot-CD from ADIOS.

    You boot from the CD.
You get some alternatives how you want to Run your ADIOS Linux.
It will not touch your harddisk, unless you set Boot option r/w read and write to harddrive enable.

ADIOS comes with FireFox 1.0 and Apache HTTP Server auto installs.
Uses Kwrite as editor and Konqueror as file system handler.
    Images is handled with GIMP

More info of this ADIOS Boot-CD project:

I am downloading and burning Fedora Core 4.
One rescue disc plus 4 distro CD. Total 2.7GB

If I am not pleased with Fedora, I will try Ark Linux .
Also this comes with 4 discs.
Ark Linux targets people used to Windows automatical and easy to install.
A very good choice for those who wants to try Linux, for first time.
Still rather new and not so mature, Ark Linux is still already a good choice.
Sure to take a place on Top10 Linux distributions.

Hi, all americans and others ( even those in UK )

            At www.distrowatch.com
you can find info and FREE Downloads of Kubuntu LINUX operative system, OS

I have downloaded and installed this LINUX
            and it works ver well.
It is the KDE version of Ubuntu
which is top ranked among Linux distributions.

All links and info at this link:
            http://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=kubuntu

            Only one CD-disc to burn.
you download this disc in ISO format.
Burns it into an install CDROM disc.

Then you boot and install this very nice LINUX OS.
you never go back to Microisofties Billy G. again ..
            I can almost promise you.

My server ( Apache 2.0.54) is up and running
this perfectly alright PHP 5.0.5 website, in my LINUX computer

            😉 🆒 😉

To get the BEST "distro", try this with your K-Ubuntu ...

After you get Kubuntu up and running, run the Depenguinator, then do, as root:

cd /usr/ports/x11/kde3 && make install clean

In a little while, you'll have the best KDE desktop.....

              😃

              /me ducks and runs...

I can not login as root
                this is special with KUbuntu

but maybe I can use 'sudo -u root' in some way
I usually do this when have to be root temporary

                I try what you suggest
because you seem to know KUbuntu

                hope it works
                Thanks
                halojoy
happy with KDE Ubuntu, very nice OS-system really

                  Um, Hi, halojoy.... :o

I'm hoping you realize that what I said is something of a joke, or "trolling". Colin Percival's "DePenguinator" is a program that you run on a Linux machine to overwrite the installtion with FreeBSD, instead. 😉

                  😃

                    But dear Linuxer,
this is a joke with a core of advice in it,
                    isnt it?
If I KNEW I gained a good LINUX,
with root access as it should be,
I wouldnt hesitate 1 second to run this FREEBSD install preparation.

                    Questions:
Can you recommend an FREEBSD install ?
Have you tried running it ?
What is the gain, any drawbacks, from for example a Unbuntu install ?

I have already thought about downloading the latest FREEBSD version ( 2 ISO discs for install )

                    Regards
                    from a Swedish Linuxer!
                    Go hide Billy Gates!
Sweden has seen right through you, you scammming dollar eyed fukker

Lets not forget the distro that many of the aforementioned are based on: debian.org Too bad they improved the installer---took all the fun out 😉
