[RESOLVED] Unwanted automatic "/" in php link...

I am trying to use php to automatically create several links for me but am running into the following problem:

running
echo('<a href=http://sitelink.com?section=' . $section . '>Link</a>');

produces
<a href=http://sitelink.com/?section=SECTION>Link</a>

How do I get ride of that extra slash? My provider does not allow access to the php.ini file. Thanks for your help!

this has nothing to do with PHP. the extra slash is being inserted by your browser because http://sitelink.com?section=whatever is not a valid URL.
