simple animated gif

Hi all

I would like to create a gif animation that will rotate, I am aware that this is probably a simple process but I dont have Macromedia Flash (and I am presuming this is the easiest application to do this with) can anyone point me to a simple gif creation program, any other heklp in general will be greatly appreciated.

i tryed google before coming to the forums and they were either really bad or any program that could actually do what i wanted imprinted a signature on the end result seeing that it was a trial version. I am not looking to buy the software as I only need this for one thing, guess I should have possibly mentioned that in my original post.

the php solution would be to take the series of images and do a really, really fast slideshow... but I think the google suggestion is better.
