Content Management System Help

Hi everyone, i am a freelance web designer (still in uni) and i am making a content management system for someone at the moment. My question is this. I know that there are many Real Text editors avaliable, but the one i am trying to look for does not seem to be around. What i would like one to do is to be able to take some text, say with lots of paragraphs and then take the bolds, italics, paragraphs etc, and convert that to html code and store it in a database table so that i can call it out of the database to display what they want. I hope this is making sense so far 😛

I would like this because i do not want one of those packaged CMS which take over your whole site, or worse gives you loads of options you end up never using. So if someone would find a way for me to give my website to a novice and tell them they can edit the content of a text page without them having to put in <br><br> when ever they want a new paragraph or <b></b> when they need a bold text that would be greatly appriciated.

I use Tiny MCE on my website - it's pretty good and fairly easy to implement - basically a 2 script refs in the header - then every instance of a text area gets turned into your own miniature version of word. You can also change which settings are available (e.g remove the ability to make hyperlinks or change fonts of you want it to be fully in keeping with your design.

The one problem I've had with it is that it doesn't respond too well to formatted text being pasted in. If someone sends me a word doc. to put in I generally find it easiest to put it into notepad first and then reapply formatting, but if the user types text directly in there isn't a problem.

I found this one to be very easy to use and modify. You are able to assign snippets to varying areas of the text and allow the users to only modify that. Have a look.

Cool - that looks good - but I've already built my CMS now (from scratch too - feeling very smug about it!)

Just have to try and get the people I built it for to start using the damn thing!
