Ok, my friend Dave and i have been trying to get our server to do a number of things. First and foremost, we already have it setup as a file server. Secondly we want to set up a phpbb forum for users, and lastly we want to setup an email server.
The software:
WinXPPro SP2
Apache 2.0
php 4.3.11
mysql 4.1.14
phpbb 2.0.17
mercury mail 401a
Squirrel Mail 1.4.5
The goal is to have one webpage with links to the file server, forum, and email server. Currently apache is up and running as a file server. Dave and myself have put 30+ hours into trying to get phpbb working. We haven't even tried anything concerning the email server yet. Upon setup of php and mysql, using dbinformer, we have one of two errors:
Error 1 Cannot connect to database ODBC@localhost (password used NO)
Error 2 Upgrade Mysql client
Like I said, we have fiddled around with the php and mysql ini files as well as the apache config file. Nothing seems to work.
Php passed the php info test page test and seemed to be configured correctly.
Mysql sets up easy enough and we had a databse set up with user name killsci and password or 6 letters. The db had all privileges turned on and seemed to be working correctly. Upon trying to install phpbb, dtabase was not detected and install failed.
My aol instant messanger name is treads6464. I am so frustrated with these programs i am about ready to quit. If someone could help me set them up correctly (I'd even send you all of the ini files for configuration thru aim, I would greatly appreciate it and offer them full access to my file server, the forum, an email address, as well as give them the info to connect to my ventrilo and counterstrike servers.
