math precedance?

OK.
I stink at math and was hoping you guys can help. If
$total=100;
$securityCharge= 12.5;
$miscCharge=5.0;
securityCharge and miscCharge are percentages of charges of total. How can I do the math on this? Thanks

you may need to explain more but are you saying that securitycharge 12.5% of the total? if that's the case it's easy

per cent = divide by 100, divide = /
of = *

so ...

$securityChargeValue = (12.5 / 100) * $total

same for your misccharge.

...or just divide the total by 8, which is what multiplying by 12.5/100 does.
