Tryin to build a html page for aim

Ok aim allows the use of html in profiles and i've made a guestbook site that will be viewed in the users profile the problem is when a user clicks on the link it makes an error because their is a space in their username see below

<A HREF="http://www.aimguestbook.com/viewprofile.php?uid=1&u=%n" TARGET="_self"><b>View My Guestbook</b></A>

the %n on the end of that gets the current user viewing the profile its a built in function aim has everything works ok unless the username has a space on it like this

http://www.aimguestbook.com/viewprofile.php?uid=1&u=dave grant

then aim gives me an error i've looked at other sites like mine and they all seem to work the links look almost exactly the same though

well see thats the problem i cant use php code on an aim profile only html code

Er ... you're writing this guestbook in PHP, right? Have you looked to see what urlencode does?

yes i know what it does but im cant use it because the link itself cant be in php you can only have a link in your profile and once they click the link then can you have a php page load but the link can only be in html and it errors before it loads the html

Seems like you can't have any punctuation, either.

I cant change the space to a %20 because i dont know where the space is the link changes for every person that looks at it like if this user looks at the profile

but if someone with the username

joe

views the profile the link would look like this

http://www.fsaf/profile.php?u=joe

Yes, I don't see the point to use punctuation. You still knew what i ment, so that post was irrelevant, and didn't help me at all. I say that with the up most respect also don't take it wrong way.

Only because I've had plenty of experience in decrypting semiliterate dribble. All too often I manage to figure out what is being said only to find that the quality of the writing was a good indication of the quality of the thinking behind it. The English language has punctuation and rules for its usage for a reason. They exist to make communication between people easier. If you're too lazy to make an effort at writing your posts as though you expect people to read them, why should people make the effort to read them?

And I mean that with the utmost respect.

In this case, of course, it has become apparent that no-one understands what your problem is. It isn't even clear what PHP has to do with it. Like I don't understand what this means:

Is that two sentences, or three?

Maybe if you posted some of your guestbook code so that we could see something that you had to write legibly. Maybe your PHP is easier to understand than your don't-give-a-toss English.

To be honest with you I never payed attention in school. My life was transformed to be in the military, so school wasn't a big deal. After being discharged from the military for medical reasons, I decided to go back to school. Sorry my english isn't as good as you would like it to be.

This is true I'm not smart at all, and I can't spell. I will be the first to admit it, but I don't see the reason to point that out. I write websites so I don't have to really deal with people, and this is the reason why. Although you didn't fix my problem at all just pointed out my grammar problems, I thank you trying.
