Need a quick replacement string advice....

Here is the dilemma I have.
I have an HTML page where I need to replace the relative source of my images with absolute ones. Instead of changing all my templates(not an option) I need to string replace anything between the "SRC" quotes tacking on the rest of the absolute URL to the beginning. so I can go from

IMG SRC="image.jpg(or gif or jpeg)">
to
IMG SRC="http://balh.com/pictures/image.jpg"

I have the absolute part of the URL already in a variable. So I just need to tack it into the right location.

Any help appreciated.

either [man]preg_replace[/man] or [man]str_replace[/man] would be the way to go.

Thanks I found that out finally.

Is there any way to step thtough each "find" of the pattern.
What I'm trying to replace now is that I have class="blah"

what I want to do is add style="" to each dependant on what the class is.

I found out that since I'm sending this to yahoo,gmail etc etc I need to directly style the tags.

you could use [man]preg_match_all[/man] to get a list of all pattern matches. when they are stored in an array, you can run it through a foreach and perform some sort of replacement with that.
