Anyone got a block of code that will send an email through a SMTP server using php?
Keep in mind this SMTP server requires a username and password.
[man]mail[/man]
Hi,
The default behavior of mail only sends directly via smtp on win* platforms. On unix it will act as a "proxy" sending the information to a binary sendmail or other MUA on system.
Pear MAIL Package has multiple methods for sending email which include the standard mail method as above, using sendmail and connecting directly to smtp port. http://pear.php.net/manual/en/package.mail.mail.intro.php
Under the php mail documentation there is a link to a custom function which sends email directly to smtp port. http://expert.no-ip.org/?free=smtp_mail&func
Hope this helps!
Yeah those links were great Stathy I'll let you know how it goes.
Yes, those links were also on that mail page (as you noted Stathy). Besides, how do you think PHP communicates with sendmail? Hand signals?
Actaully I searched the mail page and came up with no reference to
http://pear.php.net/manual/en/packa....mail.intro.php
I didn't even bother checking the link.
Stathy's post was very helpful where as yours was just an opportunity to gain another post.
