can someone please link me to a place that can help me code the forum categories for my forum.

What exactly do you mean? What kind of forum software are you using, and it should already have set up your database for you but not knowing what you have or anything it is kind of hard to answer your question.

i've implemented the category system in the admin cp so you can add categories, but i can't figure out how to make them show on the main page.

I would say that if this forum script doesn't have code to add categories, it is most definately not at a usable state yet. Perhaps you should be looking into a finished forum script.

Unless it can do this. And you just can't figure out how. In which case maybe you should be looking into a more user friendly forum script. I'd suggest http://www.simplemachines.org/... I find it a good balance between light and featured... and it's pretty user friendly.

how do you want the database structure?

also i've just managed to get the categories showing on the main page, i'm just trying to get the forums to go under the right category now
