I'm currently working on my first "real" web app using a relational MySQL db. this is definitely one of the most challenging, complicated, long-term endeavors i've set out to accomplish in a long time-- ha!, and there's not even any formulas, functions, or eeek!-- objects involved. I had no doubt that it would likely be an eye-opener, of course-- hence the delayed start.
realizing that some of the best help, guidance, and learning takes place in forums such as this one, i'd nonetheless like to see what else is out there. i'm aware of hotscripts.com, but i've mostly used it for pre-packaged apps.
do you know of any resources available where i might find some stock scripts for such things as simple forms for populating tables w/ data-- basic techniques which one should of course learn on his own, but might also at some point wish to study those of the masters, or at least those of the-guy-down-the-street.
believe me, i'm not really sure what i'm looking for myself, in case you couldn't tell, but if you can think of anything that helped you through some of your first hurdles... some places where you found stuff that helped you to overcome, or better handle the mundane minutia, etc. ... anything that you think might help me to gain some perspective on how to handle a slightly larger app than just a "few pages", such as you might see that i'm working on if you visit my link above, i could really use a little advice. heck... even a good ol' pep-talk would do me good. don't get me wrong, i'm still as determined as ever... but i'm just sort of at a point where i need to take a breather and maybe look at some other stuff for a while.
thanks!
