Intelligent linking

Hi,

I have what i feel is quite a complex question but here it goes. If i had a database table(MySql) with a list of links and words to go with them, how would i write a function to put on every page that finds certain words for example band names and makes them a hrefs to a page on my site? im guessing maybe with a find string function or something similar?

any help would be great as i dont even know where to start.

oh Btw im not exactly a newby to PHP but please try not to lose me lol.

Well, there's phpGiggle that is along the line of what you want, however, I don't think it uses databases. I sure you can learn from it or customize it to pull the link info from your table.

You mean the function reads through text on the page and whenever a word on the page matches a word in your database, the function links that word to the link that matches the word in your database...

Not that I have a solution for that, but I was planning on doing something like it soon but haven't really gotten around to think about it yet.

Thanks for the help, im sorry for the delay in reply i dont get much time to check the forum with being busy on the site a lot. i shall try that phpgiggle if i manage to get it customised to use a database ill share it for you both so fingers crossed.. 🙂

Hi again,

I tried out that phpGiggle but it had lots of errors that i couldnt fix cos i dont really know Regex... If anyone can help me with a code it would be brilliant. It really is hard from the look of that phpGiggle.
