Having problems displaying image

Hi,

I have just started using MySql and Php...

In my HTML code I have placed a link to my database....<a href="image.php?name=coe_lucinda.jpg">Lucinda Coe</a></td>

which has data along with a picture (longblob).

Here's the strange situation...sometimes the picture along with the data shows up fine in some browsers but in other browsers, just the data shows up.

For example, the picture shows up when I use Netscape but not on Microsoft Explorer. Some users say they can see the images on their computers using all browsers while others can't see the images at all no matter what browsers they use.

I wish I could solve this problem so that it always works, regardless of browser settings.

Any help or thoughts would be deeply appreciated!

Instead of storing images in your database as a blob, you should try to store the paths of the images in the database (varchar) and then use that path to call the image from a directory on the server. It is a LOT faster and will save you a lot of coding headaches.

In your database, make a table that has two columns:

| id | image_path |

id = int
image_path = varchar

<a href="image.php?id=1">Lucinda Coe</a>

You just do:

$sql = "SELECT * FROM images WHERE id = 1";

Does that make sense or do you need more help?
