I have a new project in the pipeline and I would like to know your opinions on it in technical terms.
The project will be similar in functionality to iStockPhoto in that users will be able to download various elements that can be used in presentations such as buttons, backgrounds, images etc. Users will either be able to pay for each item individually or buy "credits" so for example one image may cost $1.50 or 1 credit. I would also like to be able to implement an upload function for designers to upload their work to the site and give the designers a cut each time their design is downloaded.
I have good experience working with mySQL databases but mostly for content management based projects. This will be the first e-commerce project I have worked on and would like some tips on where to start, how to implement efficiently, security issues etc.
