Problem with: Executing program without waiting time

Hello,

I have a problem with a batchfile that I want to execute. The Batchfile is searching the network for computers and other things and the problem is that
the process takes about 20min.

How can I execute the batchfile from PHP with system(), exec(), etc... without that I have to wait for the batchfile result. Since I can't leave the browser running for 20min.

I thought I start a batchfile and in the batchfile I start a second batchfile. But even this doesn't work! 😕

How could I start a application without having to wait for the result using PHP, is my question?

Ah yes sorry, forget that!

I'm using Windows System (Windows 2000 Server, Windows XP and Windows 2003 and later also Windows Vista Server)

currently I'm starting it like this:

system("test.bat");

and in test.bat I have a test inside that runs ntbackup and makes a backup of some folders. (just for testing).

Since the ntbackup needs 30mins.

But later on I want to be able to start any application without having to wait the result of it!

well you can wait... and also if you need set_time_limit() can help too... you can't speed up a program .. .that depends on your computer.
