reading image file meta data - any ideas??

i want to read the title, comments and author fields stored with image files (jpegs) - does anyone know how to do this?

(these fields are found by right clicking on the image and choosing properties)

i couldnt find any example that related to extracting the comments, author, title etc from an image there 🙁

Well, it's there in the $info['APP1'] value but you'll have to decipher/extract it out yourself.

thanks toplay.. i have looked through the meta data toolkit and youre right it is in there but that is about where my skills end.. i have found that the IFD tags i need are as follows:

0x9c9b: "Title"
0x9c9c: "Comment"
0x9c9d: "Author"
0x9c9e: "Keywords"
0x9c9f: "Subject"

anyway ill keep plugging away and see if can crack it 😃

Yes, that's easier but you need to make sure that you have it installed:

Yeah, that's what I thought. Not many hosts have it installed. Anyway, check the link I gave to that persons code. His code not only can extract the info, but allows you to update the jpg file too. He doesn't use exif!

Here's his example page and all the things it can show from a jpg file:

right im adapting ozhiker's meta data toolkit, ive added the XP Title tag and its picking it up however, in the exif tags list its of type 'undefined' and you can see here its coming out as a load of numbers ...

I don't know, but his example page already is able to display the title.

yeh unfortunately the title in his example is in an area of the exif header im not using ... thanks for your help anyway, ill post a solution when i find it 🙂
