exec not functioning?

Hello to the forum,

This is the first post for me and I could really use some assistance. I have been working on the program for a couple of months and I am totally stuck. Here is the code I am having problems with.

$sarg = "MemberID=".$SESSION["MemberID"]."&MemEMail=".$SESSION["EMail"] ."&mailtxt=".$Act_Message."&mailsubject=".$Act_Subject."&sSQL=".$whereSend."&MType=ACT";
$mycmd = "php". $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT']. FREE_LIST_PRO_DIR."adm_send_mail.php ". escapeshellarg($sarg) . "> /dev/null &";
//echo $mycmd;
// return
exec($mycmd);
exec("exit(0)");

Everything seems to work until I get to the exec statement. I can place a print_r($mycmd) at the end and see the results, but the exec never excutes the adm_send_mail.php file (this is the email routine file and emails are not sent out) and the program keeps functioning as if nothing is wrong. Is there a way I can follow the flow and see where the program stops working at? I have totally removed the adm_send_mail.php file and then run the program and it does not even miss the file, so I am pretty sure the exec statement is not running the adm_send_mail.php file or does it run in the background and I would not see it either way? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Now I know there is someone out there that knows how to help with this problem. I would be willing to give you a copy of the program and let you install it on your server to troubleshoot. Also I would be willing to pay anyone for their efforts! I am sure this will get some responses. Believe me I don't mind paying for help as long as I can get this fixed. I have other projects that I will be requiring additional help with. $$$ Anyone interested PM me. 🙂

Just wondering why you're calling the the script from a system executable, instead of including it or something else more conventional. (One thing I can point out - and this would have been clearer had you used these forums' [php] tags around your code - is that you've got no space after the php in "php".$_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'].)

Your right, the ["php"] really does have a space after it. I have been working on many different solutions changing code here and there and I took the space out and did place it back where it should be ["php "]. Thanks for pointing that out.

I really do not know what I am doing, so I am not sure why the script was called from a system executable. What would the include line of script look like and/or what other way would you suggest the best method would be to call the [adm_send_mail.php] file?

I am really out of my league here and could use some expert advise. If you see something that could be done in a better way please let me know.
