im tryin to figure out how well my system would hold a load...
unfortunately... ive never launched a site with mysql and php before..so i dont know what kind of performance i can expect from mysql, php, and my current machine.
lets say i have a mysql database, with 50,000 rows..... 20 columns...all filled
lets say the 10 columns are text with 400 characters, and 10 columns are varchar 40 full of text.
if i put make this database with mysql...the standard non enterprise mysql....sitting on a machine with a 3.5 ghz amd... 2 gigs of ram.... 2 raptor drives... striping scsi..... t1 line...
and lets say query type 1 is for 5 of the text columns, and 5 of the varchar columns
and lets say query type 2 is for 1 of the text columns, and 10 of the varchar columns
and lets say query type 3 is for all the columns varchar and text....
how many queries / second do you guys think my machine can do with each of the query types?
i know there are many factors to this...and that this is a very hard question to answer.... im obviously not asking for exact numbers.... more a guesstimate
if you were to say ... 20 - 60 .... or 100 - 300 ... id be pretty satisfied. im just trying to get a ballpark idea.
im trying to build a very complex website that will have to sustain a lot of queries to my database...and i have not gotten an idea of what to expect.
please let me know what you guys think... thanks a bunch.
