order by family

Hi, I have a table, and I want to sort the results by a column (family).

However, I want to display first Dad, mom, brother, sister.

My code is:

 "SELECT * FROM users  ORDER BY 'family' "

How can I do that?

Use the ENUM type for the family column.

This will allow you to specify that the column can ONLY take one of a number of values, e.g. 'Dad','Mom','Brother','Sister' ,....

If you use your query in this it will sort them according to the order in the definition, giving you exactly want you want.
