Can I create database by php script on mysql?

Hi,

I am a new for php and mysql. Recently, I was installing phpbb on my web server, it wasn't going well. First, I want to know whether I can create database on mysql by php script. I don't want to type command line to create databae. Secondly, I thought a lot of php app books in which there are .sql files for some application programing. How to run .sql files, where should I put the files? I hope somebody can help me out. Thanks in advace

As long as your mysql username/password has CREATE DATABASE permissions, then you can create teh database in a PHP script. If you're using a shared host, you may not have these permissions.

.sql files can be run either through phpMyAdmin or through the 'mysql' command line utility with the 'source' command.

The web sever is on my computer. I don't share it with anybody. I installed mysql on my computer. It doesn't ask me I need a username when I installed. But now, I don't know what is my username. Where can I find this information? I mean the username and password. how to change it?

download and install phpmyadmin,
it has buttons for all that commands

If you installed MySQL on your comptuer and didn't change the privs, the defaults are:
username: root
password: ( the password is blank )
