bbc code + highlight

What i am trying to do is to make something like the phpcode highligher they have on this forum, but simpler. I want to use the

highlight_string

function so i could color code the php i have on the page but i want to so that its bbc code. Can anyone help me make a bbc code php syntax highlighter.

Im trying to use if for some tutorials i am goin to post on my site, so that the code is all color coded and organized

Ive Tried

	$phpcode = '#\[php\](.*?)\[/php\]#si';
	$highlight = '<div class=\'quote\' style=\'width:400px;white-space:nowrap;overflow:auto\'><code style=\'white-space:nowrap\'>'highlight_string('\1')'<br><br><br></code></div>';
	$message = preg_replace($phpcode, $highlight, $message);

but it doesnt seem to help 🙁 please help
