Hello
Im an avid webdesigner and enjoy trying to create pages with PHP
so several months ago I got pulled into the direction of dynamic content from databases, text files and RSS. Well everything was just moving along the only issues I had were easily handled by help from forums like this one.
Then comes a issue which I will describe now :
file_get_contents
everytime I used "file_get_contents" in the code of a page
an additional "5 seconds" of browser/server page download time was
occuring.
weeks of support tickets to my host provider at the time were going nowhere slowly. One day the pages were as before ... fast!
then next time I look and back to the "5 sec" issue ...
However, I got to moving on and switched my design data to a new host.
I was online again and no PHP issues with load time, only 3 days ago I noticed this issue to come back and haunt me!
Im in the process of support tickets to try and debug this but its driving me insane, Im sure I cant be the only paying for webhosting person using "file_get_contents" and getting this 5 second delay ...
here is an example:
$page_data = file_get_contents("http://google.com/complete/search?hl=en&js=true&qu=insanefromphp");
echo ""; ///
this should not take more than 3-4 seconds maximum to output
any ideas from someone with similair issue ??
