i have downloaded php-5.0.5.tar.bz2 but i dont know how to run this file ?
i m unable to run this file
please can any body tell me how can i install PHP

That's quite a big ask. You haven't given any indication of what platform you're running on, what OS, what version, what you want to use PHP for, etc etc... this will all influence how you should install it.

i m using Window Xp. and i want to make a web site on PHP.....
but i dont know how to install PHP..
so please tell me step by step

I'm afraid I've never installed on any windows platform, so I can't really help you. But why not look at the

detailed instructions in the manual ?

maybe you can use xampp as a start ( www.apachefriends.org )

or you download a precompiled package ( no .tar.bz2 ) but a windows binary,
there was a install.txt file in that package ( last time i downloaded that ) in there are the lines
you need to add to the apache config-file
