Issue with Passing a variable, any help?

Ok, here is what is happenning. The answer is probably in front of me but I cannot see it.

I have a form statement on one page. that has a dynamic drop down listing from a MySQL database. The selection from that listing is passed to another php file that does a search/display of whatever is selected.

IE search for

type=cars

then all the listing for cars are displayed on the next page. That works fine for single words. the issue is with spaces.

If I select type=fresh fruit

and do the post, then only thing that shows up on the next page (with the GET) is the word "fresh".

how can I get the full variable to pass to the next page?

Sweet. thats sounds great, but I still have one question. How would I add the encoding into this <select> statement

echo "Item Type<br><select name=\"type\">";

while ($myrow2 = mysql_fetch_row($result2)) {

	printf("<option value=".$myrow2[0].">".$myrow2[0]."</option>\n");

}
echo "</select>";

would it be something like this?

echo "Item Type<br><select name=\"urlencode(type)\">";
