Hi, I'd like to have an information from you guys..
In order to avoid search engine indexing problems by using www.mysite.com/page.php?article=2 and since I'm not able to modify any setting of the apache server (mod_rewrite) I've modified my pages by doing this:
the referrer pages now link to www.mysite.com/page.php/article=2. And everything works good on my local server, will there be any kind of problem when I upload it on an apache webserver and what about with Google (will it index all the different pages)?

Even though you can't edit apache directly, you should still be able to utilize mod_rewrite via .htaccess

Hi, sorry for the late reply 🙂 but my "future" hosting company took a while to tell me that they could not enable the mod_rewrite due to the fact that they use plesk which disables it by default and at every update they should manually re-enable the mod_rewrite for me... 🙁
So I figured out that the following solution could be better than the one before :

http://www.mysite.com/page.php/2/title_of_article
http://www.mysite.com/page.php/3/title_of_article3

What do you think about it? Are there any problems having an url like this with a .php at half way? What about google, will it index all the different pages or will it see the page.php just like one?

yeah, I was just wondering if the search engine sees that dot it stops viewing the url and process it like a normal page.php --> only 1 page indexed instead of all the different pages... 😕

No, the search engine doesn't care about things like dots in URL paths (they're perfectly valid things to have in both URLs and file paths). If you are concerned by that at all, consider writing that example URL in the beginning as www.mysite.com/article/2

No, the engines read beyond that point. There are several listing with rather long URLs and that variables in them.
