Navigation bar

Hi people.
does anyone know how to create a navigation bar? i have a db with news and i want them to be displayed 5 each time. if you know some tutorials or scripts pls let me know.

Do you want to make a navigation/menu system with your news items, or do you want to display the five latest news items somewhere? How do you want it/them to look?

How much do you know about querying your DB and displaying the results on the page?

What have you tried? Do you have any code of what you are attempting? The reason why I ask is that the code to do this could be something that you can write yourself. But we need more info from you...

I can get the contents of my db displayed on a page, but if i have like 20, i get a list of 20 and the page becomes to long. So, what i want is to get 5 and links to next 5 etc..
e.g. i want this at the bottom of my page << [1] [2] [3] [4] >> , to link to results 1-5, 6-10, 11-15, 16-20 respectively.
