Search in documents content

I have a file manager(made in PHP) that saves all the files in a location on the server and all the information in a table in database. The main problem is that the search interogates only the database , not the content of the documents.
It's there any software (free or not) that do the search in douments content and posible to be implement in that project?

Depends on the document format. Microsoft Office documents, for example, are a lot more difficult than others because Microsoft won't publish the details of their formats....
