I’m a beginner and I’m really quiet frustrated, going out of my tiny mind. I’ve been on 2 separate courses about how to create Dynamic pages for a website, I know the theory, I know what’s going on, but I’m having a hell of a game trying to make it work.

I use Dreamweaver and I’ve just downloaded NaviCat to see how that works.

After about 30 minutes of fiddling I’m still no wiser.

PLEASE, can anyone offer a website which is written without using acronyms and short hand, with screen grabs. Something along the lines…

Establishing a Connection: From the tool bar at the top of the screen, select File, new, open, connections. A pop up window appears, fill out the sections a) b) and c) with x, y and z – click okay.

When ever I’ve asked questions like this, the reply normally states “well it depends what you want to do”. In which case, for arguments sake, lets say I want to set up a Lectures board, where staff members access a password protected board they can submit their name, date, location and a brief description of what the lecture is.

How would I go about doing this?

(P.s. I have 2 books on the matter, and they’re both rubbish)

IMO, if you really want to program dynamic sites in php then you should learn php, not dreamwever. dreamweaver is just a tool to help, but when your first starting out it doesn't really help at all. it writes code for you (and poor code at that)... how could that help you learn anything?

this is a php forum. if you want to learn php, well and good, if you want to learn dreamweaver, there is another forum further down.

This doesn't sound like a web app to me....
