Blank Page Syndrome

Please Can someone help me........My server is not parsing phpinfo() and i am getting a blank page.....when i run this script thru my browser it works fine

</head>
<body>
Hello this is my first php page
<?php echo "and php is working"; ?>
</body>
</html>

But then i did a <?php phpinfo(); ?>
and i get a blank page
when i veiw source i see this heading
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
<HTML><HEAD>
<META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=windows-1252"></HEAD>
<BODY></BODY></HTML>
my server is a fedora 4 with apache php 5 and msql

i have already gone thru the typical troubleshooting and i need some help to get thru this problem.......can any one help me???? im deperate

Are you sure you are saving both files with the .php extension? Unless specifically told to do so the apache will not shove pages through php unless they have the right extension.

Have you tried tail /path/to/apache/error/log in your shell?

Most generally, "blank page syndrome" is a combination of some error, and the php.ini settings for error_reporting().

However, there are two kinda weird things here. One, it's kind of hard to see how you might screw up a call to phpinfo(), and two, I don't usually note that PHP sends up the DOCTYPE declaration for "blank" error pages.

Do you own the box?

i do own the box is there something that i should do???
im not sure why the error will not show i have display errors on and i have e_all

im sure that im saving the right extensions if you do the www.sophisticatedlovers.com/test.php you can see that page is parsed

hi all i am posting here to document this problem... i have pinpointed the problem of my blank page syndrome. i had installed mod_gzip and it is not letting me parse the pages on my site. does any one have a similar situation that might help me in this problem??. for now i am just going to keep it turned off untill i figure it out
