php syntax to return a column list

how would i go about returning a list of columns in a table? and is there a way to also return the datatype?

The documentation for these functions is available on the PHP website, and they do exist. Just look under the mysql (or mysqli) reference.

thanks for the almost answer...or needle meet haystack search. i looked through hundreds of functions and alot of different searches that i figured might be a logical function name.

also looked through mysql references, nothing there provided info on dumping a list of columns in a query - could be blind

I've never used them, but I think that is what you are after.
