Kill session Variable on window close

I have page then requires and admin page in a new window. To log in I set a session, but it remains as long as one window is open, is there a way to kill a session variable when a window closes?

I could use a cookie but I figured that might be a little risky.

How about the session_unset(); function? (I have never used it, but I remembered it by name....)

Closing your web browser instance actualy kills your session in a sense. sessions DO USE cookies to maintain state. They are called temp cookies, they are erased when your browser is closed (all browser instances that may have spawned current instances included.) Even though the session has not timed out on the Web server, your browser will never send the session id again (it was erased on close.) Therefore, that session is done.
