Do you mean you have the name "fernashes" and you search on "ash" - and you still want to have a hit with fernashes?
Then that %like% will work for you.
Basically, like means "find anything LIKE this..."
Eg LIKE 'fern%' will find anything like...
- fern
- fernashes
- ferny
But not
- badfern
- badferns
Make more sense?
