Safe to encode PHP source files as UTF8?

Folks,

I'm trying to confirm that it's okay to be saving my PHP source file as UTF-8? Will the PHP parser be able to handle this? If PHP supports this, does it support both UTF-8 as well as UTF-8 (with Byte Order Mark)?
