[RESOLVED] selecting a specific column based on username..

Is it possible to select a specific column based on the users id?

$info[$username] doesn't work.. :S

specific column? i assume that you are storing users in a database table, and you mean a specific row.

SELECT * FROM table WHERE userid = '123'

actually not.. 😛

i'm not selecting the table where user info is stored. It's a table to store alot of userstats (its equipmentstats for a game im making).

So im trying to make equipment name and usernames as colums, and then the different equipments rows.. Of course, if it's a better method to do this, i'll gladly change it 🙂

my original suggestion is still valid. if you want all of the rows from the euipment table that relate to userid #123 then do:

SELECT * FROM equipmentstats WHERE userid = '123'

how is that possible when the players stats are listed verticaly in the database? Only one column per row is related to the player...

perhaps i am still not undertsanding you. you intend to have a separate column for each user? this is very bad data design. you need two related tables: one with the users and another with their equipment that uses the primary key field from the user table to link them togther.
