[RESOLVED] showing contiguous block

suppose a column in a table has these values

3
4
6
9
11
12
13
14
15

Any way to do a query to get this result:

LowerRange  UpperRange
---------------   ---------------
1                    4
6                    

9                    

11                  15

I marvel at the power of SQL so perhaps someone has faced this and can save my brain for other features :⁾

Can't be done as you lay it out with a single SELECT. Best would be to fetch all rows and handle the analysis as a PHP loop.

Yep, I kind of figured that. FYI and anyone going through the forum, you can do a "missing sequence" query like this on any given table:

SELECT a.ID
FROM thesametable a LEFT JOIN thesametable b ON a.ID+1=b.ID
WHERE b.ID IS NULL

this will find a.ID where the next value is missing
