why did i get "permission denied"

here is my code

another page to download the excel file

i got this working on 1 server and "permission denied" for another. can anyone tell me how to fix the permission problem? 😕

also when i download the excel file i always get the old version. what should i do to get the latest version? 🙁

You need to give your webserver permission to update the file. Exactly how/if you do this depends on your operating system and the level of contorl you have over it.

If you're sure that there is a new version on the server, but you can't download it, you may need to check your browser cache settings and the cache settings on the network devices between your PC and the server (firewalls, proxy servers, routers, etc etc)

Finally, the line you are appending to the .xls file doesn't look right, it looks like tab-separated data. Is that how Excel expects .xls files to be formatted? I wouldn't have thought so.

My web host is using linux system. What should I do? I heard people entering the command "quote site chmod a+w" using ftp software. 😕

I managed to write data into excel file in tab separated format. It's ok as long as the data is written into the file.
