There are 2 drop menus, one for year and one for month on the same submit form (button) sent at the same time.

What I need to do, is to make the menu results show as url variables:

site.php?date=yyyy-mm-dd

Currently the Year is represented as four digit 2005, and Month as 01-12, // days would default to "00"

How can I place the drop menu values in the url variable as:

site.php?date=2005-11-00

The drop menu values now appear in the url:
?Month=11&Year=2005&SUBMIT=GO

that is precisely what the [man]sprintf[/man] line in my example does.

I sent characters and query results to browser and still get this.

Its not giving the Monthnames. Also tried placing array variable in place of $value.

right, as i said you must send nothing to the browser (no output at all) prior to starting the output buffer.

Yes. Noting that:

foreach ($months as $value) {echo '<option>' . $mname[$value];} 

gives: months of 'October' 'November' and 'December'

Or wherever there is a leading '1' I take it. Omitting 'January' -> 'October'

Also, on submit it sends the month name to the url, not the 01-12

For the queries, I'm using explode to pull from the url variable:

Can I make these drop menus hold the values for $year and $month from here?

This will make the month values stick with a url variable present:

What are you trying to say? is that what you want or not? =D i would think that is a good thing....unless im confused. I thought thats what you wanted to be able to do is save which month the current query is.

Will placing a query make the menu default to the current year and month?

This isn't by CURRENT_DATE but could be any year and month selected by the user. Or any year alone. Which is why I defined the variables with explode from the url.

I'm thinking I should combine the two if I want the values to both "stick" and have the current year and month showing on the drop menus. Right?

This tested fine on a page. But then when I moved to the page for use, the menu disappears after "submit" and will not send.

I'm prettry sure there is a conflict with Javascript on the page that has among it:
"setDateParam("date"); "

I've tried renaming to date2/month2/year2 but this seems to not work //may defeat the purpose of the "date"?

That is because in your code your basically saying if someone hits submit then all it will do is get the variables which will not even exists at that point...but if they dont hit submit then it will do the query and show the form. This needs to be changed.
If you are not going to use this part:

then you need to get rid of the else statement. And as far as making the value stay selected for the year and month you do this:

I cannot run the query out of here, it is already being run via javascript, and there are three different queries based on other factors set by the user.

Basically I want to (1) send variables to the url in this date format.

If they are already there, I want (2) the drop menus to pick up on this.

Yes, there may be nothing in the drowser bar to start. The current month and year would be nice.

If I mislead you in my descriptions, it was not intentonal.

About the option values, I've tried just about every way I know to format this and still getting:

Then do this:

what that will do is use what the user wants, but if they dont choose anything it will default to what the current month and year is....Let me know what you get with all this. 😛
