multi-line regular expression

can anybody help me to build a reg exp for smth like

<td valign=top style="width:30em">

more lines with text and html tags (no </td>)

</td> <!-- first occurence -->

i tried

"/<td valign=top style="width:30em">\n(.)*<\/td>/"

but don't work

any ideas ?

With the preg functions it is the s modifier that makes the . match line breaks.

You'd place it right after the closing delimiter which seems to be / in your example.
