formatting dates for mysql

Hi,

I'm new to php, could someone tell me how I can create and format a date for a mysql database?

I have the day month and year, posted to my action page, I have checked the dates are valid by checkdate(), but I need to have them in the correct format.

I might be slow so I'm sorry for that, but what is it you want us to tell you? How to connect three values into one correctly formatted? If so, do this:

$mysqlDate = $_POST['startyear']."-".$_POST['startmonth']."-".$_POST['startday'];
