Help please

I am totallly new to this and downloading everything I can read about the subject so dont be surprised at what you read next.

The ladies group I belong to has subscibed to a buleetin Board I have the honour to have been elected Admin.

Now this board wants us to set up a PHP and a MySQL file (still reading my downloads) but why do we need to and what are we putting in these PHP and MySQL files all we want to do is swop our chat and knitting patterns.

NO mnot really knitting patterns just needed a joke as my head hurts with all this reading

nope, youve lost me. did you subscribe to a board (like you did to write this message), or are you trying to setup your own?

if the later... which one? there are litterally thousands of forum systems written in php. you would really need to read the setup instructions pertaining to the board you are trying to setup.

I think what you are getting at is...you need to have a server that has php and mysql installed on it. Otherwise, your forum simply won't work. You need the engine to the car before you can turn it on.

There are lots of good hosts out there...some are cheap. I think it's ok if I recommend a good, cheap one here since I don't own the company or get anything back from them (I just know that they are good).

We have already subscribed to a site for a board it is called wowbb but in the setup guide that was dumped in m ylap it says to create these 2 files but I have no idea what for and what I have to put in them.

Sorry to sound so silly and stupid.

Going to bed now with 75 pages of downloads to read 2:45am here in New Zealand

yes, it wants you to create the connection and config pages i bet. you need to these to give you access to the database and to set the basic configurations. just create the files as they say, name them as they say and upload where they say.
