Imagick install Questions

Hi, I am having a lot of problems getting imagick to work with php on my server.

I am using php5 with apache2 and imagemagick 6.2.5-4-q16.dll. This is on windows xp, also.

Anyway, I have edited my environment path to point to where I installed imagick, and I have downloaded php_imagick.dll to my php5 ext folder. I appended extension =php_imagick.dll to my php.ini file, but now when I restart apache, I just get a message saying "cannot load module php_imagick.dll" Any ideas on what I could be doing wrong? Thanks a lot!

Most likely it's a path issue or filename issue. Double check both...

Thank you for the quick reply. You were right, sort of. I did have a problem in my path-- I had left a pointer to a previous installed folder of image magick that has been since removed.

However, now, it still says: "PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library 'C:\webpage\php5\ext\php_imagick.dll' - The specified module could not be found. "

It said this before, also, but in conjunction with the aforementioned error. Now it Just says the above, which is at least progress. I am 100% positive that my filenames are all correct.

One thing I should note is the fact that I am actually using ImageMagick-5.5.7-Q16. This is because I noticed that is what someone said to use in a tutorial that I found on this board.

Have you tried restarting Apache & Windows? SOMETIMES Windows is a ************ ********* bag and can't seem to get it through it's skull that it needs to work for us, not against. But whatever.

I'd try restarting (if you haven't), and see if that helps. If not... we'll go from there.

Yes, unfortunately, I have restarted both apache and windows about a bagillion times. I had similar problems with the mysql extension, and went through the ringer with that one, and then after restarting my computer, it worked like a champ 🙂 .

So.... does image magic still not work? Or what? You were a little ambiguous as to what you were referencing with:

I assume you're talking about the mySQL extension?

Have you tried the Q8 dll instead of the Q16?
And lots of people are reporting errors with IM v 6.x, try 5.x if you still can't get it working.

Sorry about the ambiguity there. Yes, restarting my computer 3 months ago solved a mysql extension problem. Currently, I am still having problems with the imagick extension. I am already using image magick 5.5.7-Q16, as per a tutorial suggestion on this site.

Thanks for the help, and I will try using the Q8 tonight.

lol, I will give that a try. I can't think of what else it could be, but I am sure it is something stupid. I am going to talk with a friend's system admin, so maybe he has some ideas. Thanks for the help, and if you do come up with an idea, please let me know. For now, I am just going to use the gd extension and call it good.
